[Intangible Cultural Heritage] Sake Brewery Tour & Traditional Japanese Lunch
[Intangible Cultural Heritage] Sake Brewery Tour & Traditional Japanese Lunch
Duration: 4 hours
In December 2024, Japan's 'Traditional Sake Brewing' was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage! There are also sake breweries in Tokyo producing Japanese sake.
Would you like to visit the traditional Ozawa Brewery and experience the heritage of Japanese sake?
Located in Ome City, Tokyo, Ozawa Brewery has a long history dating back to its founding in 1702 (Genroku 15). Nestled in a natural environment with the pure waters of the Tama River, one of Japan's top 100 water sources, Ozawa Brewery produces sake, particularly known for its signature brand, "Sawanoi." The Junmai Daiginjo sake from this brewery received the prestigious "President’s Prize" in the Junmai Daiginjo category of the 2021 Kura Master competition.
On this tour (both Basic*weekday/weekend and Private Courses), you’ll learn about the sake brewing process, the brewery itself, enjoy a guided tour of the facilities, and sample a variety of sake. Additionally, you can enjoy a multi-course meal featuring handmade tofu and yuba dishes, paired with the renowned Sawanoi sake made from the brewery's pristine water. Experience pairing sake with traditional Japanese cuisine. (Drink fees during lunch courses are separate.)
*Please notify us in advance if you have any allergies.
In addition, the nearby Mitake Valley offers beautiful autumn foliage, especially in November. Enjoy an exceptional experience as you learn about traditional sake brewing in Ome’s beautiful nature, tasting exquisite sake and traditional Japanese cuisine.
The Private Course includes access to areas within the brewery not included in the Basic Course. Upon request, visitors can also enjoy a tour of the Gyokudo Art Museum, dedicated to Gyokudo Kawai, a master of Japanese painting.
