The Nakasendo, one of the five main roads established during the Edo period, is a historic route stretching approximately 540 km between Edo (modern-day Tokyo) and Kyoto. This trekking tour takes you on a journey through time, visiting post towns and stone-paved paths that feel like stepping back into the Edo period. Surrounded by the stunning mountains of Kisoji, the Nakasendo trail offers a variety of routes suitable for both beginners and experienced trekkers.  

During the tour, you’ll visit charming post towns like Magome-juku and Tsumago-juku, where you can experience the lives and culture of travelers from centuries past.

Itinerary

    • 9:50 Meet your guide at JR Chuo Line Nakatsugawa Station.
    • Transfer by bus to Magome Pass.
    • Start trekking toward Tsumago.
    • (Lunch) A meal at a café along the trekking course.
    • Visit historical sites like Ichikokutoba Teahouse (Chaya).
    • See the scenic Onna-daki & Otoko-daki waterfalls.
    • Arrive at Tsumago-juku (Tsumago Post Town).
      Note: Arrival time may be delayed due to weather or trail conditions.
    • Transfer by bus to Nagiso Station.
    • 16:00 Tour ends at JR Chuo Line Nagiso Station.

    Travel times may vary depending on connections. Please purchase Shinkansen tickets in advance at Kyoto or Nagoya Station by the day before your trip.

    Important Note

    • We will coordinate with the guide and contact you within three days of your booking.
    • If you have decided on your transportation to the meeting point or your destination after the tour, please inform us at the time of booking.
    • This tour operates on a meet-up and drop-off basis. If you plan to use a taxi for transportation, please make your arrangements in advance.
    • To prepare for the unpredictable mountain weather, please participate in trekking-appropriate clothing, including comfortable shoes, rain gear, and warm clothing.

    The cancellation policy

    Cancellation fees are calculated based on JPNEAZY's business days, excluding Sundays and public holidays in Japan.

    In the event of bad weather or natural disasters resulting in the cancellation of the tour, a full refund will be provided.
    If you fail to arrive at the meeting point or cannot be contacted within 15 minutes of the scheduled time, your booking will be treated as a same-day cancellation.

    If JPNEAZY determines that the tour cannot proceed due to unavoidable circumstances, such as severe weather (typhoons, heavy snow) or natural disasters, a full refund will be issued.

    If you wish to reschedule the tour for personal reasons, please note that availability may be limited. In such cases, the following cancellation policy will still apply:
